In-depth Reviews
Garmin Vivoactive 3

The Garmin Vivo 3 is our number 1 pick, and the one I actually own! If you’re looking for the cheapest GPS running watch on the market, then this wins for both it’s performance and it’s price.
I love the stylish look and clear screen, this watch is perfect for day to day use or training. You look smart in the office and can train smart on the track! Garmin contactless pay is a great feature, meaning you can pay at most places with your watch. I love just quickly paying for stuff without trying to find my wallet!
The training programs give you plenty of flexibility for your training. With all the options and GPS tracking you can be sure to find the right program for many forms of exercise! I use it for lots of running as I train for a marathon with my brother.
The watch also follows your heart rate and can help you manage stress. Useful if you have a stressful job and need a reminder to stop for a minute and take a deep breath. I’ve used this quite a few times when fifty things seem to be going wrong at once!
Garmin Forerunner 235

If you’re after a good GPS watch to track your training and general every day activity at an affordable prince, then the Garmin Forerunner 235 is certainly a watch to consider.
With a strong range of running metrics, great day to day usability and powerful battery, this watch ticks many of the boxes.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 2

If you’re after a really good watch under our Cheapest GPS Running watch guide, then this one is a real contented.
There is a good chance you have a Samsung phone, tablet or other piece of tech. I’m sure you’ll agree its pretty good as well!
The watch has plenty of styling options so you can get the watch that fits your look. Perfect if you want something for also wearing to the office or something more casual.
If you want some serious training, this watch delivers. It provides audio guided pace coaching, helping you manage your training and races effectively.
The watch also tracks your heart rate, alerting you when your heart rate gets very high or very low (perfect for identifying when something is stressing you out!).
Sleep tracking can help you manage your sleeping habits and help identify any problems.
Battery life is impressive with 5 days battery when not using the GPS. If you have a later Samsung phone, you can use it to charge your watch through wireless power share.
Amazfit GTS

The Amazfit GTs is a a number one seller on Amazon for reason. It’s cheap and it’s good.
Tracking steps, heart rate and sleep, the Amazfit GTS can give you a good measurement of your health for a very affordable price. With 12 sport modes, the watch can cover most of the exercise you’ll be taking part in. Outdoor and indoor running included!
Normal day use without GPS can bring in a 14 day battery life. Which is pretty incredible.
A nice feature is it’s water resistance up to 50m, making it a good watch for swimming if that’s another activity you enjoy!
Fitbit Charge 4

Fitbit are experts in the very sleek watches that feel more like wristbands than watches. Slim and light they are perfect if you don’t enjoy having a bulky watch, or like something that looks discrete.
I personally use one of these for training as I prefer to use a traditional watch during the day.
The watch will track your heart rate during activities and give you an intensity map for your workouts. It’s a great way to make sure you’re putting in the right type of effort in, especially if you’re trying to learn to pace yourself for runs.
The watch has over 20 goal based exercise modes, including swimming, so you can train what you want, at the intensity you want.
If you bring your phone with you, you can control Spotify through the watch so you can go through your playlist while on a run. If you’re like me and need music or a podcast while running, this is super handy.
Fitbit have brought a strong battery game to our Cheapest GPS Running Watch list, with a seven day battery life and five hours with GPS on. Not bad for such a little thing!
Fitbit Versa 3

While $100 more than the Fitbit Charge 4, the Versa 3 is a much more complete watch for exercise and day to day use. One of the most expensive on our list, it is also one of the best, alongside the Galaxy and the Vivoactive.
The watch, having measured your resting heart rate, helping you track the amount of effort you’re putting into a workout. Fitbit use the latest Purepulse 2.0 technology for improve heart rate monitoring!
Over 6 days of normal use battery, with charging being super fast. In 12 minutes you can achieve a days charge!
You can store and play music on your watch, and it will track your sleep.
Overall it’s a great watch for day to day use, and an excellent choice for someone who wants a good GPS watch for their running. It’s training and data help you make the most out of your training sessions, exactly what you need when you want a new 10k personal record!
Polar M200

The Polar M200 is another good GPS watch for running.
The big selling point of this watch is the Smart Coaching program, which really helps tailor your training sessions to your needs. This watch becomes your coach!
Like the other watches it has heart rate and sleep tracking. If you get bored of a color, you can change it with their selection of wrist bands.
While not as practical for day to day use as the other watches, the coaching program makes it a rival for the more expensive watches on the market if you want a watch purely for running! You can upload your results to the Polar Flow platform, helping you perfect and personalise your workouts.
Polar M430 GPS Running Watch

Like the M200, you get access to the running program, both outdoor and indoor. Heart rate and sleep tracking is also an option. You upload your results onto Pulse Flow and you can edit your workouts!
Other than that it’s a fairly simple watch. It’s a pure runners watch like the M200.
Summary
Overall I would recommend the Fitbit Versa 3, Garmin Vivoactive 3 or the Samsung Galaxy (if you have a Samsung phone). All three are excellent watches that provide great day to day use, look good, and have excellent training and metrics installed. All will help you improve your running and any other sport you are interested in. They don’t cost much more than the running dedicated Polar watches, and provide enough metrics for anyone other than an Olympic runner.
